BAM wins €20m wastewater tunnel contract in Munich, Germany Engineering

Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau AG, part of the Netherlands-headquartered Royal Bam Group, has won a contract worth approximately €20 million to build two wastewater tunnels in Munich. Münchner Stadsentwässerung, the organisation responsible for the construction, operation and administration of Munich’s sewer system and wastewater treatment plants, has awarded Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau AG the contract for the construction of the two tunnels.

Construction works have started – Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau expects to complete the project in the spring of 2021.

The two tunnels have a total length of 2,180 metres and will be constructed at 7 to 12 metres below the Landsberger Straße in the west of the city. Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau will use a hydro-shield tunnel boring machine with an external diameter of 3.6 metres. The project also includes the construction of various shafts.
