WEG, a leading electric motor, variable frequency drives and gearbox manufacturer, will demonstrate how energy-efficient motors and drives can help sustainability, at this year’s Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) in Dubai.
The company will showcase its latest electric motors and variable frequency drive (VFD) technology with Pump Genius software, at Stand A5 in Hall 5 at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) on October, 1 to 3.
The Middle East’s water demand is growing and so is the region’s energy consumption. Desalination — the region’s primary source of freshwater — requires over 1 kilowatt-hour per cubic metre and is responsible for almost half of all energy consumed by the residential sector. At WETEX, WEG will illustrate how electric motors and drives can help minimise this consumption across the water sector.
“Electric motor driven systems like pumps play an essential role in water applications and can be energy intensive,” commented Raphael Torrano, managing director at WEG Middle East. “Maximising these systems’ energy efficiency and reliability is critical to driving sustainability in regions like the Middle East where water use is increasing. Our new generation of motors and drives rise to this challenge by pushing the boundaries of energy efficiency and reliability.”
One of the highlights on the stand will be the W23 Sync+ Ultra, a hybrid motor that combines permanent magnet (PM), ferrite or neodymium magnets and synchronous reluctance (SynRM) technologies. This motor provides higher efficiency than conventional induction motors across all speeds, reaching efficiency levels as high as the anticipated IE6 and beyond.
WEG will also showcase its W22 motor range which is ideal for multiple applications including pumps. The motor’s unique ventilation system reduces noise levels and optimises airflow, minimising hot spots on the surface and enhancing efficiency and reliability that leads to a lower total cost of ownership (TCO).
Visitors to WEG’s stand will also have the opportunity to discover the WG20 and WG50 geared motors. The WG20 gear units’ two-stage design allows for maximum efficiency with minimal power losses. The WG20 is designed to reduce the need for constant maintenance and is lubricated for life. The WG50 gearbox’s modular design makes it suitable for a wide range of applications across the water industry.
WEG will also exhibit its VFD solutions for the water industry, including the MVW01, which is ideal for applications including pumps. This VFD enables process speed control, energy savings and reduced operation and maintenance costs.
